Nita Lowey courts Rockland voters
NEW CITY — Rep. Nita Lowey spent parts of the past three days touring Rockland County, unofficially beginning her campaign against Republican rival Joseph Carvin in the newly revamped 17th Congressional District.
The district now includes all of Rockland and much of central and northern Westchester County, made up of some 700,000 residents.
“I have to introduce myself to 350,000 new people,” Lowey said Monday during a break at Clarkstown Town Hall in New City.
“I have to get out there to talk to people, visit with people and try and understand every part of the district,” she said.

Former Councilman, Town of North Castle
As a former Town Councilman for the Town of North Castle, I always say that my greatest achievement in my 24 year tenure was getting sewers for Quarry Heights. When the town was short of funds to complete the project, our Congresswoman found the monies. She wouldn't take no for answer from the federal agencies until they secured the funding. Congresswoman Lowey has always delivered for her constituents and fights for all the people
