Lowey Hits the Campaign Trail in Rockland

Nita Lowey courts Rockland voters

NEW CITY — Rep. Nita Lowey spent parts of the past three days touring Rockland County, unofficially beginning her campaign against Republican rival Joseph Carvin in the newly revamped 17th Congressional District.

The district now includes all of Rockland and much of central and northern Westchester County, made up of some 700,000 residents.

“I have to introduce myself to 350,000 new people,” Lowey said Monday during a break at Clarkstown Town Hall in New City.

“I have to get out there to talk to people, visit with people and try and understand every part of the district,” she said.

Congresswoman Lowey has always been a strong and important partner in government for the City of White Plains. She has fought hard to make sure our local needs are well represented on the federal level and she has made local jobs a priority by helping us secure $1.9 million in grant money to re-hire first responders
