Nita Lowey courts Rockland voters
NEW CITY — Rep. Nita Lowey spent parts of the past three days touring Rockland County, unofficially beginning her campaign against Republican rival Joseph Carvin in the newly revamped 17th Congressional District.
The district now includes all of Rockland and much of central and northern Westchester County, made up of some 700,000 residents.
“I have to introduce myself to 350,000 new people,” Lowey said Monday during a break at Clarkstown Town Hall in New City.
“I have to get out there to talk to people, visit with people and try and understand every part of the district,” she said.

Councilwoman, Town of Clarkstown
As a young woman and an elected official, I cannot overstate how vital Congresswoman Lowey’s leadership is for Rockland County. Not only is a she a leader on protecting woman’s healthcare options and fighting for student loan debt relief, but her role as a key leader on the Appropriations committee makes her a tremendous advocate for our communities. She is one of the strongest supporters of Israel in the US Congress and ensures vital foreign aid to Israel, and support for the Iron Dome missile defense system.
