Nita Lowey courts Rockland voters
NEW CITY — Rep. Nita Lowey spent parts of the past three days touring Rockland County, unofficially beginning her campaign against Republican rival Joseph Carvin in the newly revamped 17th Congressional District.
The district now includes all of Rockland and much of central and northern Westchester County, made up of some 700,000 residents.
“I have to introduce myself to 350,000 new people,” Lowey said Monday during a break at Clarkstown Town Hall in New City.
“I have to get out there to talk to people, visit with people and try and understand every part of the district,” she said.

Deputy Mayor, City of Peekskill
Congresswoman Lowey is one of the hardest working women I know. She is truly “boots-on-the-ground” fighting for Main Street, for the working families of our district, for our seniors and our veterans. She believes in our right to work, to health care, and to a good, public education. She has thrown her support behind the City of Peekskill, as all of the municipalities in her district, and I am proud to throw 100% of my support behind her.
