Nita Lowey courts Rockland voters
NEW CITY — Rep. Nita Lowey spent parts of the past three days touring Rockland County, unofficially beginning her campaign against Republican rival Joseph Carvin in the newly revamped 17th Congressional District.
The district now includes all of Rockland and much of central and northern Westchester County, made up of some 700,000 residents.
“I have to introduce myself to 350,000 new people,” Lowey said Monday during a break at Clarkstown Town Hall in New City.
“I have to get out there to talk to people, visit with people and try and understand every part of the district,” she said.

State Assemblyman, Rockland County
For years, Nita Lowey has worked hard for the residents of Clarkstown and Haverstraw. Since she was elected to represent all of Rockland in 2012, she has delivered results by securing critical funding for flood mitigation projects and early childhood education programs. I endorse Congresswoman Nita Lowey for re-election.
